Getting There!
Beyond The Border takes place at St Donats Castle, in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan on the South Wales coast.
It is about 30 minutes drive from the M4 Motorway (Junction 33), 8 miles from both Cardiff-Wales International Airport and Bridgend Railway Station (on the main London Paddington to Swansea line).

The Castle is also within easy reach of Dylan Thomas' birthplace in Swansea, the golden beaches of the Gower and the fascinating Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans.

From Cardiff
Follow the signs for Cardiff International Airport. West out of Cardiff on the A4050, follow sign posts for Llantwit Major (B4265) Stay on this road do not go into the town of Llantwit Major, at the roundabout go straight on (signposted for Wick and Bridgend). About 1/2 mile along this road there is a left hand turn (very easy to miss!!!) take this road and turn left at the end this will take you to St Donats

What to Bring
St Donats is right on the coast and the weather can change very suddenly. Even in mid-summer it is a good idea to bring a light rain coat and maybe wellies. Also - bring a good torch for the late-night walk back through the woods, and a warm blanket for sitting by the camp-fire listening to stories under the stars.

There is an abundance of food stalls selling international cuisine at the Festival Site, and a campsite food tent providing late-night snacks and early morning breakfasts. If you need extra provisions, there are supermarkets and a bakery in Llantwit Major (2miles by road). And if you forget the tin opener, the Festival Bar sells a range of handy products for the needy camper!

Disabled Facilities
The Disabled can reach the main Festival site by road - there is a drop-off point and a parking area reserved for disabled drivers only. Toilets for wheelchair users are available on both the Festival site and the Campsite, and St Donats Arts Centre (including the Tythe Barn Theatre) is particularly well adapted for wheelchair users.

Do get in touch if you have any queries about the facilities for the Disabled.

Etiquette

We want everyone to enjoy the festival to the full so there are a few considerations we’d like you to make for the performers and fellow festival-goers.

Take loads of photos to remember your festival - please refrain though from taking any unauthorised photographs or sound and video/film recordings in the marquees and other covered buildings.

Please remember that talking loudly or making sounds near the performance venues disturbs the performers.

Arrive in plenty of time for performances - some events are designated ‘no late-comers’!

For your children’s, and others’ benefit we’d like them enjoy, and not disturb the performances.

If you need to leave a performance, try to do so during the interval or between stories.

We would appreciate it if you would vacate venues as soon as you can after the event has finished as we will be getting it ready swiftly for the next one!

Adults need to be accompanied by a child in the children’s tent. Children have priority in this venue.

Guide dogs are welcome – other doggies must stay at home.

We are a drug free festival and do not condone drug use on site.

Children under 16 years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Respect the environment, recycle your rubbish, remember no glasses (except your specs)!

Ring tones are great fun - not in the middle of a storytelling though! PLEASE SWITCH OFF YOUR MOBILE PHONES even during outdoor performances.

It is illegal to smoke in any enclosed public space and all performance spaces.

On behalf of everyone at Beyond The Border, thank you for your co-operation.

Have a great festival...
