Beyond the Border are thrilled to announce that we have not one, but two exciting summer schools running the week before the Festival this summer.
Tell it Your Way – with Jamie Crawford
Monday 25th June – Wednesday 27th June
A perfect workshop for beginners, or for those who have been doing a little storytelling, and want some guidance. Jamie’s sensitive teaching style seeks to help you find your voice – whether that is for telling in museums, schools, story clubs or even at home with children or grandchildren. You’ll work through practical exercises in a supported environment with traditional stories at the centre of the work, but dipping in to personal and original material as well.
Telling with Pleasure – Italian Performing Techniques to deliver Classic Italian Tales – with Paola Balbi
Tuesday 26th June – Thursday 28th June
A course for developing your existing skills, which can adapt to your level from experienced professional, to keen story club teller and takes a look at Paola’s own method – a dynamic, theatrical style rooted in deep work on connecting to the story. The course dives into material from Boccaccio’s Decameron and is an absolute must for anyone looking for a new dimension to their work. It is also suitable for performers with strong performance backgrounds exploring the transition to storytelling.
Course Fees (non-residential) £120+VAT
Residential options are available from £15+ VAT per night shared and £35 + VAT per night single occupancy (ltd availability)
