A diagnosis of a neurodegenerative condition like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, MS or others, is a life changer. “Something is wrong in your brain!” is the message, and it can feel like an assault on your sense of self, your very identity. It takes a bit of getting used to. We are delighted that the National Lottery Community Fund is supporting our new pilot project, Slow Motion Selfies, which we hope will help.
Groups of people will work together, share experiences, have fun and take part in activities that explore and challenge their thinking and stimulate their creativity and self-expression. We know the resulting writings, artwork, photographs, music, songs, craftwork or performances will inspire and encourage others.
Our volunteers have been recruited and we had an amazing training session with BtB favourite Dan Yashinsky who is storyteller in Residence at a health setting in Toronto and now we are ready to recruit participants.
Sessions will be held in Cardiff and Swansea during Autumn 2019 and are open to those with a diagnosis of a neurodegenerative condition and/or their family members. Sessions are free and we can provide help with travel expenses.
An information leaflet can be downloaded either in A5 or A4 format below.
