- We are a drug free festival. Illegal substances on site will not be tolerated. Please respect this and expect sanctions to extend to removal from site and/or notification of appropriate authorities.
- Smoking in indoor public spaces is illegal in the UK. This includes tented venues and enclosed spaces. Please do not smoke in any festival performance venue. If you do smoke in other outdoor spaces, please be aware of other people’s needs and avoid areas serving food or offering children’s activities and take care with your cigarette ends.
- We do not limit the alcohol that can be brought to the camp-site, and there are two bars on site. However we do ask you to consume alcohol responsibly, ensuring that you and all our other visitors can enjoy the performance programme. Please respect this, and expect to be asked to leave performance areas or camp-site if your behaviour is not appropriate.
- We welcome Guide dogs on site, but no other dogs, we will also not permit dogs to be left in cars in the Festival car park (for their own safety), and they are not allowed on the campsite. Please leave your dog at home or expect to be asked to leave.
- Children under 16 years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult. No adult should be responsible for more than 4 children unless specifically arranged with the Festival Organisers (eg a school trip).
- Adults need to be accompanied by a child in the children’s tent - Children have priority in this venue.
- Please refrain from taking any unauthorised photographs or sound and video/film recordings in any of the performance spaces.
- Please arrive in plenty of time for any performance. Note that some venues reach capacity quickly and to see certain performances you may wish to queue before the start time of the performance.
- If you need to leave a performance, please wait for a designated break, or a suitable time such as a change between storytellers.
- PLEASE SWITCH OFF YOUR MOBILE PHONES even during outdoor performances. Even silent and vibrate modes can interfere with the technical equipment and reduce the sound quality of performances.
- Please remember that many of our performances are spoken word performances. Talking loudly or making sounds near the performance venues disturbs the performers and audiences.
- Recycling. We are keen to be an environmentally sustainable festival. Please help us by making use of the recycling facilities provided.
Thank you for upholding the Festival Etiquette. We hope you have a great time at Beyond the Border.
