Attention Storytellers: Scam Alert

If you receive an invitation to perform at our festival, and it is not from a @beyondtheborder.com email address, then it is a scam.

We have received a number of reports of storytellers being approached to perform coming from emails purporting to be from ourselves but not using our email address. Typically, they take wording from our website and promise payment and accommodation in return for a copy of your UK visa. We’ve had reports that further correspondence has lead to requests for advance payments from artists to secure the performance.

Whatever you do, please do not pursue the invitation any further. We’ve alerted the UK Fraud Squad about this, and perhaps you can do the same in your country and report it to the relevant email provider. For example, if its from a gmail address you can report it here https://support.google.com/mail/contact/abuse.
