On the first weekend in July, this unique festival brings together some of the finest storytellers and tradition bearers from around the globe to perform in the magical surroundings of St Donats Castle on the South Wales Coast. Begun in 1993, the Festival was the centre-piece of a Wales-wide month of Storytelling as part of the UK Year of Literature in 1995, since when it has regularly attracted several thousand attenders from all over Wales and the world, and has been accompanied by a programme of community outreach work taking storytellers into schools, hospitals and community centres across South Wales.
