Beyond the Border announces new Artistic Director and Company Manager

Beyond The Border – Wales International Storytelling Festival have announced Naomi Wilds as the new Artistic Director. Leading the future of the company with Naomi will be new Company Manager Amy Morgan.

The festival which celebrated its 25th Anniversary this June at its home in St Donats, Atlantic College of the Vale of Glamorgan has grown into the one of the best known and respected storytelling festivals across Europe, bringing artists from across the UK and around the world to Welsh shores.

Naomi joins Beyond the Border with a wealth of knowledge and experience of storytelling.  She is the founder and lead producer of innovative storytelling and music production company Adverse Camber, a role she will keep alongside working with Beyond the Border.  

Naomi is a long-term attender and fan of the festival, who has plans to ensure it retains its spirit and ambitions and she brings exciting ideas for 2019.

Eirwen Malin, Chair of Beyond the Border said, “We are thrilled with the appointments for our new Artistic Director and Company Manager post who will help shape and deliver the ambition of the company and Naomi’s artistic vision for 2019 we are sure will delight regular attenders and attract new ones.”

“We also delighted that Amy Morgan has stepped up to become Company Manager, a key role in ensuring the development of the whole organisation.  We know Amy well as she has been the Festival Programme Coordinator for the last 3 major events. Storytellers, festival traders, production and technical staff all know Amy already as an extremely capable and supportive coordinator.”

On her recent appointment Naomi Wilds said, “Beyond the Border has been a formative influence on me as a producer and I’m beyond thrilled to join the team ensuring its continuing future. I can’t wait to discover the new stories, music and fantastic artists of festivals to come, as well as to join the amazing team of people, partners, volunteers and supporters who make the event so special.”  

Amy Morgan said, “I have always appreciated the power and beauty of storytelling as an art form. I have loved my time working with the wonderful Storytellers, Festival team, Traders, Production staff and Volunteers at Beyond the Border over the last three years and am very excited to be part of the team that takes the organisation to the next stage of its development!”
